Nellie is 96 years of age, she is under five feet tall, is very thin and frail looking and requires a stick to walk. She has long straight, straggly white hair. One of the lenses in her glasses is missing and she is very hard of hearing, she usually wears a black woolly style hat and a knee length mauve/blue coat, cream trousers and white shoes.

National Personal Safety Day

Written by

This year National Personal Safety Day will take place on 8th October and will be coupled with the Tech No Chances campaign, both run by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust (www.suzylamplugh.org).

National Personal Safety Day aims to get as many people as possible throughout the UK thinking about their personal safety and giving them simple advice on how they can to reduce the risks of becoming a victim of violence and aggression. With your help again this year, we can help the Suzy Lamplugh Trust reach even greater numbers of people than ever before.

scam alert

Written by

We are all familiar with the wide variety of scams that have plagued our communities for the past few years. Distraction burglary and other doorstep crime is pervasive and has a significant impact on the victims. The latest evidence from Operation Liberal is that the victim of doorstep crime is between two and a half and three times more likely to die or be admitted to residential nursing care than someone of a similar age who has not been a victim.

keep britain working scam

Written by

There have been a number of recent incidents reported across the UK of individuals going door to door trying to sell merchandise branded with the Keep Britain Working logo e.g.

We are aware that an email entitled 'Population Census: a message to everyone - act now' is being circulated, allegedly in the name of National Statistician, Jil Matheson. This email demands individuals provide further personal information, supposedly for the Census and threatens fines for non-compliance.

sussex 101 explained

Written by

‘101’ has now been adopted by every police force in England and Wales as their non-emergency number. It provides the public with one easy to remember number for contacting their local police wherever they are in the country.

POLICE across the country are issuing a warning about a website calling itself neighbourhood watch.

The website, nhwo.co.uk, was launched on December 14 and we would like to stress that it is not supported by the Neighbourhood and Home Watch Network (NHWN) which is the official national body representing ALL Neighbourhood Watch members in England & Wales.
